October’s Hottest New Products
Welcome to our monthly column where we showcase the five most exciting products to hit the shelves. Whether you want to freshen up your own routine, find the perfect present or ensure you don't miss out on the next big thing, we've got you covered.
de Mamiel Fatigue Fix

Chronic stress can wreak havoc on everything from our sleep to our digestion and unsurprisingly, our skin is certainly not immune to its destructive effects. So de Mamiel have crafted this serum to tackle stress hormone cortisol head on, which when elevated can leave the complexion looking lacklustre and decidedly tired. “Fatigue Fix is about stress-induced dullness: when you constantly look tired and exhausted, your skin is dry and dehydrated and slightly sensitised,” shares brand founder, Annee de Mamiel. “What it’s addressing is the free radical pathway and increase in oxidation, which if left untreated creates glycation (resulting in a loss of elasticity and sagging) and changes in the skin barrier.”

While it can’t quite remove all the sources of worry from your life (if only!), it’s designed to stress-proof your complexion and protect your glow, revitalising the skin via a cocktail of minerals, vitamin A and ferulic acid. “We use first and second gen antioxidants, which interrupt at different parts of the cell life to repair and protect the cells,” explains Annee. For an extra treat, book in at the de Mamiel Skin Clinic at The Ned or 180 Health Club on the Strand where the serum will be weaved into their heavenly treatments.

Avène Tolerance Hydra-10

French pharmacy favourite Avène have long been synonymous with soothing irritable and sensitised skins and they’ve continued on this trajectory with their latest moisturiser launch, Hydra-10. Embracing the booming microbiome trend, it employs biomimetic technology – in other words, ingredients like hyaluronic acid mono-oligomers, which act just like their equivalents in the skin so the skin’s protective microbiome is shielded from further aggravation. Available as either a cream (which is ideal for dry to very dry types) or a lighter fluid, both are fragrance-free and leave skin with a beautifully hydrated yet matte finish. Great for protecting the complexion from the often unforgiving autumnal weather.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Camo Drops SPF 35

Fans of the original Cicapair cream are going bananas about their new, dewier drops. Just like the original cream, if you’re dealing with redness, the formula works to offer both short- and long-term solutions. But unlike the cream, the drops have a serum-like texture, gliding onto the skin upon application to instantly colour correct any redness thanks to their light green tint, while immensely soothing tiger grass neutralises redness-inducing irritation over time. The end result is that these drops provide the same brilliant level of camouflage for redness but leave skin with a glowier hue, so if you prefer a dewy finish, you’ll love these. The formula also features mineral sunscreens zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which is great: we will always welcome a little extra SPF protection in our routine.

Sculpted by Aimee Satin Silk Longwear Foundation

We’ve waxed lyrical about Sculpted By Aimee’s foundation Second Skin (it’s a repeat purchase at Destino HQ), so suffice to say we were pretty excited to hear that the brand had launched a new complexion offering. Satin Silk is a fuller coverage and longer lasting affair than Second Skin and promises to supply an airbrushed finish that feels (and looks) weightless and hydrated, thanks to its hyaluronic acid and vitamin E-rich formula. There’s also an accompanying concealer and double-ended stippling brush designed to complete your perfected base. The result is skin that looks flawless and the matte finish is perfect for this time of year. We predict a sellout.

Vichy Neovadiol Multi-Corrective Eye & Lip Care

The considerable hormonal shifts that take place during perimenopause and menopause can see collagen production stall, leading to increased dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. Which is to highlight World Menopause Day on October 18th, Vichy have launched this treatment as part of their best-selling Neovadiol range, to give the delicate eye and lip areas a helping hand during this time of life. Combining elasticity-boosting Proxylane and caffeine as well as Vichy’s signature thermal water, expect skin to look bouncier and lines around the eyes and mouth to appear softened.
