January: The New Destinations & Treatment Launches To Know
It's the first month of 2023 and already there are a host of new destinations and treatments to fill you in on. Here are the five most exciting ones to know about this January.
The Club by Bamford

Not content with having created the most jaw-dropping home and produce store, Daylesford, or their best-selling product line and accompanying  fully-booked Bamford spas, founder Carole Bamford has announced that they’re launching their very own members club this spring. “The Club is set within 3,500 acres of greenery on Daylesford’s farm, so you’re immersed in nature and that instantly feels restorative, unlike anything you will find in London.”

Facilities include a 340-square-metre gym with huge glass windows that make you feel like you’re immersed in the surrounding countryside. Equipped with elite-standard Technogym equipment and Stages Smart Bikes, there will be a team of experts on hand to create completely bespoke plans and to help guide you through any physical challenges you may be facing, from maximising your training to rehabbing back from injury or surgery. The studio will also host classes including spinning, yoga, pilates and reformer pilates. Padel courts and an outdoor training area with tyre flipping, rope climbing, Olympic lifting, sleds, SkiErg and Rig complete the fitness offering and will allow members to really feel at one with nature.

Next up is a 25 metre, recycled stainless steel indoor swimming pool, which overlooks the orchard and is heated by a biomass boiler (a renewable energy solution to a traditional boiler). The water is treated with minimal chlorine and filtered by a system made entirely from recycled glass with any excess water kept to be used elsewhere on the grounds of the farm.

There’s also a sauna, steam room, experience shower, ice barrels, indoor ice bath, outdoor infra-red sauna, heated outdoor plunge pool, and cryotherapy chamber. To top it off, they’ve partnered with Effect Doctors to offer all members full body and blood analysis and a trio of Well Person packages plus doctor administered IV Drips.

Once you’re done with all of that, there’s a cafe, meeting and working space serving delicious healthy drinks and food made from locally sourced ingredients. From a design perspective there are 280 solar panels to power the new building and you can expect the same airy, natural light-filled spaces using a mix of stones and wood that Daylesford and Bamford do so well.

“I’ve always believed that being in nature heals and here we’ve been able to create that environment,” explains Carole. “You can have a swim looking out into an orchard; train in a state-of the-art gym, attend high-energy fitness classes or take your fitness outside with world class trainers to choose from. It’s a place that’s very personalised: somewhere for you and your wellness, where you can do what suits you and make it what you want to be.”

Spring can’t come soon enough.

The Londoner Six Week Challenge

The Londoner – a super slick hotel in Leicester Square that opened in September 2021, has become equally well known for its wonderful spa offering. Enticingly (and appropriately) called The Retreat it comprises a huge gym, stunning swimming pool – our headline picture above – hydropool, sauna, steam room and secluded cabanas. To help kick off 2023 with a bang, it has announced a six-week fitness challenge that you can sign up for up until January 31st.

The aim is to help you begin a sustainable wellness goal, so it begins with you being assigned to your own personal trainer who gives you a detailed initial consultation. You then get 12 hour-long PT sessions over six weeks, protein smoothies after every training session, access to the full spa facilities for the entire duration and a 60 minute deep tissue massage in the final week. As a side note, they’ve also got brilliant hair and beauty experts on site including AMA Nails, Joe Vipond Gentlemen’s Grooming, and Hiro Miyoshi Hair & Beauty that you can book into for an additional cost to ensure you leave feeling even more pampered and polished.

What really sets this program apart is the calibre of the trainers – these aren’t any old PTs, each has years of experience and have trained sportsmen, CEOs, famous musicians and actors. They include fat loss and pre- and post-natal expert Stuart Balham; Ben Kilner who has 15 years experience treating corporate executives, sportsmen, and high-profile actors and musicians, as well as GBR athletes; Amille Glegg an elite personal trainer with over a decade of experience training high-profile clients across the world; and Matthew Galea-Naudi a trainer who focuses on structural balance to prevent injury and ensure optimal performance.

To take part you need to sign up by the 31st January. Price £1,300.

Dr Maryam Launches Two New Face & Body Treatments

Winter is the ideal time to tackle uneven skin tone and Dr Maryam Zamani, the founder of cult brand MZ Skin and London’s leading eye surgeon and facial aesthetics doctor, has launched two new treatments to help tackle hyperpigmentation, one of her clients’ biggest bugbears.

The first is the Complexion Balance (£1200), which targets pigmentation as well as melasma, and combines the gentle, fractional, non-ablative MOXI laser with intradermal injections of Tranexamic Acid (for those not keen on injections there’s also the option for oral or topical TA). MOXI can be used on all skin tones and skin types and because it doesn’t create heat it means that there is less downtime than some of the more aggressive lasers. It works to rejuvenate the skin by promoting new cell growth while reducing unwanted pigmentation. Meanwhile Tranexamic Acid interrupts the pathways in the skin that create melanin and therefore pigment in the skin. While there’s 24-48 hours of redness afterwards, results can be seen in 2-5 days and last for months.

If you’ve spent too many summers frying your limbs in the sun, the chances are that the sun damage on your body is coming to the fore. Body Blitz (£1000) is designed to tackle hyperpigmentation across the whole body and uses BBL Hero to blitz any sun damage on your shoulders, chest, back, stomach arms, hands and legs. Immediately afterwards you should expect some redness, with pigmentation patches appearing darker for the following two weeks before disappearing for up to 12-24 months. Two to four treatments, 4 weeks apart with top ups biannually are recommended.
