The Backstory

I chose to specialise as an Oculoplastic Surgeon because I love operating. I also love work that is extremely detailed and meticulous. Oculoplastics is the perfect combination of these aspects.

I branched into aesthetics when furthering my education and training in the UK, I researched and presented extensively about the use of hyaluronic acid fillers in treating ocular reconstructions. My patients wanted to have non-surgical options available to them and that is what propelled me into the work of non-surgical lasers, injectables and other treatment modalities.

An average working day sees me juggling between a myriad of patient concerns, MZ Skin and my family. I drop my children at school and head straight to the office for a conference call with my MZ Skin team. Afterwards, I have a full schedule of patients. Concerns range from tired eyes to all non-surgical treatments to help naturally refresh the face, neck, décolletage and hands.  My day is always interesting and varied – I can treat patients wanting a stronger jawline, a tweak to their nose, more prominent cheekbones, in addition to treating skin quality and tightening the skin. I try to finish my office schedule in time to pick up the kids from school. I then work with my MZ Skin team until dinner time.  After the kids are in bed, I respond to every email I have received for the day.

Most of my patients come in complaining of looking tired despite not feeling tired. This can range from tired eyes to skin concerns from chronic environmental exposures. My patients want natural results from either surgical eye treatments or non-surgical facial treatments to tweak their appearance without looking different. Each treatment option is created for the patient’s concern and their presenting signs.  While I can do the ‘same’ treatment for different patients, the approach is always different.

Treating the lower eyelid with hyaluronic acid filler has become a popular treatment to help volumise an area that has lost volume. As we age the eyelid-cheek junction becomes elongated and a tear trough can form.  Usually this is also accompanied with volume loss of the cheek or the descent of the mid face. Suitable candidates have volume loss, not puffy eyes.

Most people are scared of eye surgery but it is the gold standard for the removal of excess skin or fat in the eyelids.

The Advice

How to look less tired:

Exfoliate: I recommend a hydrating yet exfoliating facial cleanser. MZ Skin Cleanse & Clarify is perfect to achieve a cleansed face thanks to its skin-brightening AHAs.

Depuff: MZ Skin Hydra-Bright Golden Eye Treatment Masks help depuff & hydrate lower eyelids.

Treat: The best treatment for tired looking skin is Light Therapy – try the MZ Skin Light-Therapy Golden Facial Treatment Device for an at-home treatment to revitalise the skin.

Massage: With the MZ Skin Tone & Lift Germanium Contouring Facial Roller to boost circulation and improve lymphatic drainage.

Hydrate: Use a deeply hydrating moisturiser like MZ Skin Replenish & Restore Placenta & Stem Cell Night Mask to prevent dryness.
