Destino Says...
Having successfully run barre classes since 2011, Barrecore was acquired by United Fitness Brands in 2021 joining KOBOX and Boom Cycle in their portfolio — now also alongside Triyoga and Reformcore, all bookable through the group’s shared Common Bond app or website — but it was originally founded by Niki Rein, who moved from the US to the UK in 2009 and was amazed at the lack of barre classes on offer. Taking matters into her own hands, she started teaching classes from a mews house before setting up the first Barrecore studio in Chelsea in 2011.
They now have studios across London. Classes now span a much wider range than the original Signature format — BarreFORM is perfect for beginners or anyone recovering from injury, taught at a slower pace to nail technique, while BarreLIFT and BarreADVANCED push more experienced clients further with heavier resistance and minimal rest between sets. All are set to up-beat music and include high-repetition barre moves to recreate the training professional dancers undertake, alongside newer additions like BarreGLIDE (using gliders for extra core instability) and BarreRESTORE for stretching and recovery. This mix of interval training, resistance and static stretches results in elongated, firmer limbs, a strong core, improved posture and reduced body fat. For ultra convenience, they also offer livestream and on-demand video classes so you can keep up your workout wherever you are in the world.
