We’ve been patiently awaiting this opening. Why? Because it is not only one of the most anticipated global hotel launches in recent years but thanks to Aman’s wellness-centric approach, its three-floor, 25,000 square foot spa grants it instant status as one of NYC’s – and arguably the world’s – finest wellbeing destinations.

This is the Aman group’s first city destination in the USA (head over to read why we’re so obsessed with its Utah location, AMANGIRI) and it’s fair to say that it sets a new standard for city hotels around the world. It’s located slap bang in the middle of Manhattan in the iconic Crown Building, a Beaux-Arts landmark on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street that they’ve lovingly renovated from the outside and created a breath-taking oasis of calm on the inside. Unlike many of New York’s hotels, the 83 suites are impressively large and all feature their own fireplace, something that nowhere else in the city can boast.

The spa sits, quite literally, at the heart of the hotel – spanning floors 9-11 and consisting of two spa “houses” – one a traditional banya, and the other, a Moroccan hammam; there’s also a huge gym; a 65 foot pool, surrounded by sumptuous chairs and fireplaces (Aman always juxtapose the elements of wood, fire, water and earth throughout their properties); and there’s a nail salon plus a pilates and yoga studio about to open too.

From a wellness perspective the offering is thorough, elevating the spa from purely wellness and giving it a medical depth too – they’ve got an impressive roster of experts on hand from Harvard-trained doctors to renowned acupuncturists and they offer in-depth diagnostic testing including full body scans that measure every system in your body.

The Spa is currently only open to guests but this will change in the coming months and we predict Aman New York will become a bastion of wellness for years to come.

HARI’s has been tending to the hair of much of west London for the last 45 years, so it is with excitement that they’re finally hopping over the river to open a salon on Clapham’s Northcote Road.

This time around owner Hari Salem is handing the reigns to his daughter and daughter-in-law (both exceptional stylists in their own right) and it will have all of the ingredients that Hari’s regulars know and love. Interior-wise, they’re upping their wellbeing credentials thanks to a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly, fresh air pump and a living moss-wall. There’s also a star-lit backwash area to enhance relaxation, plus they’ll be partnering with a range of brands to offer complimentary wellness enhancers. First up are face and eye masks from 111Skin.

They’re fully-booked for August already thanks to offering new clients complimentary bookings but fear not, they’ve got a host of amazing offers for bookings into September too.

Following a six month £1.9 million refurb, The Sequoia Spa, at five-star UK hotel The Grove, has finally been unveiled offering a host of new facilities and a completely overhauled treatment menu. For those who have been pre-refurb you can expect a lot of change – every room (aside from the treatment rooms) has been completely redone by Studio Jill. But it isn’t just cosmetic changes, they’ve also installed: a new steam room; men’s sauna and steam room; an additional women’s wellness pool; a new members lounge; relaxation lounge; outdoor dining area with a dedicated spa menu; and two experience showers. Finally, from a treatment POV, they’ve introduced a host of new facials, massages and body treatments from their brand partners,  Natura Bisse and Espa.

Wilderness Reserve is continuously expanding its offering and with DOXIE, they’ve launched a luxurious, private wellness cottage. With one bedroom, it’s a chocolate-box looking, two storey thatched cottage on the edge of its own natural private swimming lake (complete with its own rowing boat). If that doesn’t sound tempting enough, it also comes with its own spa – there are sauna and steam rooms for private relaxing spa treatments, plus an outside dining area and fireplace to unwind beside afterwards. What a spot for a relaxing break away!

Lisa Franklin has become one of London’s most in-demand facialists thanks to her non-invasive, natural approach, so fans will be delighted to hear that she’s just opened a pop-up at the Bamford Wellness Spa in The Berkeley.

The menu is concise: there are four treatments to choose from and all of them are centred around the healing energy of Rose Quartz. First up is the Rose Quartz Gua Sha Facial (£150), which involves an hour of lymphatic drainage and marma point massage to ease away tension, leaving your skin feeling lifted and reinvigorated. Next is a brilliantly clarifying back treatment called the Love, Light, Energy Back Treatment (£200), where a tailored-to-you body scrub is made using Himalayan salts and oils and applied using lymphatic massage before steaming and extractions take place. The result is a baby-soft back. To continue, you can also add an express facial to this treatment for an extra £75. Lastly there’s the signature Repair Recover Renew, a 60 or 90 minute facial (£150/£225) completely targeted to your skin that covers steaming, extractions, microdermabrasion, a heavenly Rose Quartz lymphatic massage.
