In the beauty world, Nicola Clarke is as well-known as her long list of celebrity clients are worldwide. To namedrop only a few: Madonna, Cate Blanchett, Emilia Clarke, Kate Winslet, and Kate Moss all fly her around the world and she regularly sees Margot Robbie when she’s in town. Reputation wise, blondes have become her “thing” but we actually love her approach to brunette hair just as much (if not more): she manages to instil subtle, candlelit shimmer to flat brunette colour by way of whisper-thin highlights and is a dab hand at colour transformations too.
Having worked closely with John Frieda for fifteen years, it’s of little surprise that he chose Nicola Clarke to make the jump over from the Aldford Street branch, to reside over her very own salon on Margaret Street. While you’d be forgiven for thinking it might specialise in colour, Nicola’s expertise and popularity amongst her peers mean that her “handpicked hair squad” ensure the salon is equally adept at cutting and styling (we love Joel for always nailing the cut we ask for). For colour, seeing the woman herself would be our first choice but unsurprisingly it doesn’t come cheap (a whole head is £500+), so we also love John and Jessie for their imperceptible colour work. For something edgier (from rose-golds to blues), book to see Shannon, the colourist Nicola gets to do her own hair.
