Destino Says...
Located just off Portobello Road, FORM is a small but chicly designed studio. When it opened in 2014, Founders Elissa, an ex professional tennis player and dancer and her husband Jerry (also an ex-athlete) were one of the first studios to use the MOTR (a T-bar shaped piece of equipment with arm pulleys that you use to do a wide range of pilates and barre inspired exercises on). The result is their signature 50-minute Sweatcore class that involves a mix of moves that work every muscle group and involve balancing on the bar while performing deep squats, balletic moves that work legs and arms in unison and targeted core exercises, rounded off with a heart-thumping 8 minutes of HIIT at the end (including a stint on the TRX and SkiErg, a Nordic ski simulator) to really get muscles burning. There’s also the option to do Purecore, which is 50 minutes of MOTR without the HIIT and the one to opt for prenatally.
Signature classes proved such a hit, they expanded into the basement downstairs and now offer even more (including HIIT only classes, Yoga, Boxfit, TRX, Matt Pilates, Barre and Aerial Yoga). But its the original MOTR classes that make this Destino stand out – after your first session, you leave with limbs literally trembling and after a few regular classes friends will start commenting on your new found abs.
