Before becoming one of London‘s most sought-after lash experts, Edy (pronounced “Eddie”) spotted a gap in the market for expertly applied lashes when she was working as a make-up artist on big-brand mascara campaigns. Having seen too many bad strip lashes being applied, she made it her aim to create the most natural-looking lash extensions for her clients and Edy London was born.

It worked. She now applies every set herself from a pretty studio in Marylebone’s Manchester Square, and has built a solid following amongst celebrities including Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen, Trinny Woodall and Lisa Snowdon.

Classic only, and deliberately so

She applies classic lashes exclusively: one extension to one natural lash, mapped to your eye shape, brow structure and hair colour. Because Edy’s sets stay light, the results are the least “extension-y” we’ve come across, and several of her clients tell us that even their husbands don’t know that their lashes aren’t their own. Why? Because she eschews any Russian layering (where up to six lashes are applied at once) and instead meticulously applies ultra-light single lashes to each of your own natural lashes. Her background as a make-up artist means she studies the shape of your eye in order to ensure lashes play up your natural features, rather than make them look too heavy or droopy — a common and unwanted side effect of less skilled and over-zealous lash technicians.

There are three options, all applied to the upper lash line: a subtle set covering around three quarters of your natural lashes, a full set taking coverage to 90–100%, and a half set for infills.

Why she’s worth it

Her work doesn’t come cheap, with sets starting from £300 and a full set closer to £350. But she’s our go-to if your natural lashes are on the fine or shorter side, or if you’re heading somewhere the camera will be unforgiving — a wedding, a holiday or an HD shoot. She’s also refreshingly willing to tell you no. If your lashes need a rest, she’ll say so and send you away with a serum recommendation rather than take the booking.

Lashes at your door, or in your handbag

If you’d rather not travel, her mobile service covers London zones 1 and 2 at a single flat rate including travel and set-up of around £900 — worth it for a bridal morning when nobody wants to be in a taxi at 7am. Further afield, Destination Lashes takes her overseas for weddings and shoots, quoted individually.

For the weeks between appointments — or for anyone who wants to get the look for less — she’s also launched Edy London Beauty, her pre-glued cluster range. Each style is named after a city and pitched at a different finish: Warsaw is the closest to a full salon set, Stockholm the most barely-there, Paris and Barcelona are soft browns, Tokyo is architectural lift for hooded or downturned eyes, Seoul does the Korean lash-lift effect, and Miami is the one for a night out. A box holds 30 handmade clusters, reusable up to five times, with no glue bottle involved — vegan, cruelty-free, medical-grade adhesive already on the cluster. Add her non-stick tweezers if you’ve never done this before; they make the difference between five minutes and a lost afternoon.

Two rules from Edy herself: apply to bare lashes if you want five days of consecutive wear, and keep oil-based removers and skincare well away from the eye area.
