Destino Says...

Before he became one of London’s go-to aesthetic doctors, Dr. David Jack MBChB, MRCSEd spent years in NHS plastic surgery and burns units, which goes some way to explaining the precision (and restraint) he’s now known for. What started as a single clinic on Harley Street has since grown into a small London empire, with outposts in Belgravia, the City and beneath Liberty, plus one in Edinburgh. In 2018 came the skincare range, but more of that later.

Antiques, wallpaper and not a clinical corner in sight

Whichever clinic you walk into, the design makes you feel like you’ve stepped into an interiors magazine. They’re less medical practice, more chic apartment with a country house’s eye for antiques: patterned wallpapers, gilt mirrors, vases and pieces you’d happily take home. It makes the whole business of having your face zapped feel rather civilised and luxurious.

A menu that keeps up

The treatment list is long and impressively current, running from Korean Glass Skin and the PDRN Salmon Sperm Reset Facial to Morpheus8, Lumecca IPL and a strong edit of well-chosen lasers.

Most recently we tried the Nano Lift Collagen Treatment at Liberty (£300), which throws just about every piece of skin tech going at your face in one sitting. It’s a great balance bookended by a super-relaxing cleanse to start and facial massage to finish. Inbetween, electrical muscle stimulation wakes up the muscles, radiofrequency and Korean fractional laser coax the skin into making more collagen, and a tingling peptide peel and an air-jet infusion of peptides and PDRN finish things off. Having arrived with skin that looked drab and forlorn, we left with it feeling bouncy and a visible glow.

The skincare, as promised

For between appointments or to experience Dr. Jack’s expertise at home, his skincare range is every bit as good as the treatments. The Blue Face Peel (£149) is one we keep coming back to. Despite the name there’s no peeling involved. It’s a weekly hydrating mask that you paint on with the brush provided and wash off twenty minutes later. Packed with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and azelaic acid to calm, refine, and plump, it manages to remove all signs of dullness whilst leaving skin feeling fully hydrated. Refills are available too, which is a nice touch.

For every day, the Daily Skin Trio (£273) pairs Good Morning (£89) vitamin C serum, and All Day Long (£95) moisturiser with Good Night (£120) cream. It worked wonders on some noticeable sun damage, and gave our skin a glow it didn’t have before. The brand is a certified B Corp too, which in beauty is rarer than it should be.
