If you’re forever seeking products that will enhance, not hide, your skin’s natural beauty, Chanel’s Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint – which Mary cites as her personal go-to foundation – is sure to please.

“Everyone layers skincare now and this product is like the last layer,” she explains. “It’s a water tint that is SO light. I think there’s a big move away from heavy makeup and this for me is the most extraordinary foundation.”

“I rub it in like moisturiser and it completely evens out my skin tone and makes it look divine. Because it’s a water tint it dries: it doesn’t leave skin feeling oily or greasy. Instead it makes the skin look amazing without looking made up at all.” Sounds like a firm no-makeup makeup winner to us.

Mary is a big fan of this high coverage concealer that still reads as real skin. “It is unbelievable and it takes everything away,” she shares. “It’s incredibly fine and not drying at all and no matter your age it doesn’t settle into fine lines around the eyes.” Available in 20 shades, it provides a comfortable matte finish and can either be paired with a foundation or worn by itself for a natural yet groomed look.

This Japanese mascara has been a cult favourite since launching in 1997, thanks to its waterproof formulation that is also incredibly simple to remove. And it certainly gets Mary’s seal of approval: “(The mascara is) so-called because you take it off with warm water that’s over 38 degrees, which has the added bonus of meaning you are gently soaking your eyes every night, which is something opticians advise,” she explains. “I love it.”

Mary has no time for individual eyeshadows, swearing instead by palettes: “Singles annoy me: you always want another colour,” she laments.
