The Place

Dormy is a converted farmhouse in the heart of the Cotswolds. While it doesn’t have the grandeur of a stately home-turned-hotel, it has a cosiness about it that makes each guest feel like it’s their very own country abode. No two rooms are the same size and all have been decorated individually, meaning that even repeat visitors get a slightly different experience. That being said, all of the interiors are stylish, modern and sumptuous with clever little details we love like the Bloody Mary Bar and champagne-lined hair and nail salon.

The Spa

Attached to the main house, the Spa is in a purpose-built wing. The candle-lined infinity pool is the focal point (our only sadness is that there aren’t a few more loungers as they quickly fill up on weekends) but luckily the thermal suite with its steam, sauna, salt room, rainforest shower and outdoor hydrotherapy pool more than makes up for it. There are two gyms – one for personal training and one in the eaves on the third floor that’s the kind of spacious, well-equipped workout space it would be nice to have room for at home.  In the middle is the hair and nail salon and stunning Greenhouse cafe, with its hanging fireplace for winter and outdoor terrace in the summer.

The Must-Try

The treatment menu here is robust – Temple Spa and Natura Bissé facials, excellent massages and all of the usual scrubs and pampering. For us though, it’s worth booking their Turkish Delight treatment, which starts off with a soothing private steam Rasul (warm mud) treatment, which you can book for two if you’re with a mud-loving friend or partner – and ends with a heavenly hour long massage. Nothing gets rid of city stresses faster.
